Our local area
Nestled in the rolling hills above the picture-perfect harbour town of Boscastle, Polrunny Farm is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
To get to Boscastle from Polrunny Farm, you will either stroll or take a short drive down our quiet, steep country lane. Walking past the charming and welcoming Napoleon Inn and a variety of higgledy-piggledy, old worldly cottages, you will reach the head of the Valency valley and our beautiful village and harbour.
Badly damaged by a flash flood in 2004, the properties that surround the harbour have been lovingly rebuilt in the years since. As well as the fine pubs, cafes and restaurants, the art gallery, the pottery and the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic are all worth a visit.
Year upon year, our picturesque villages attract not only holiday makers but also film crews too, with popular television series such as Poldark and Doc Martin filmed practically on our doorstep.
Padstow, Rick Stein’s neck of the woods, is renowned for its excellent harbour-side fish restaurants and shopping. It should also be renowned for the natural beauty of the surrounding Camel Estuary, where walks through sand dunes will take you to unspoilt beaches..
If beaches are your thing, you will be pleased to hear that, from Watergate to Widemouth, from Constantine to Crackington, and from Booby’s to Bude, North Cornwall’s Atlantic coast, with Boscastle at its heart, has some of the finest beaches you could ever wish to see.

The area around Boscastle is a walkers’ paradise. The coastal path, both SW towards Tintagel and Trebarwith, and NE towards Widemouth and Bude, is absolutely breath-taking. There are flatter inland river walks too, and Brown Willy, Rough Tor and Bodmin Moor’s wild ponies are only a short drive away.
Our 'walk on the wild side' blog suggests lots of memorable walks accessible from Polrunny Farm.
